How to Setup a 3CX SBC on the Latest Raspberry Pi — Reformed IT

In this article we take you step by step through the process of installing a 3CX SBC.

Before following this guide, you must ensure you have SSH access to your Raspberry Pi. You can do this by going into the preferences menu located in the Raspberry Pi configuration, clicking into the interfaces tab and then toggle SSH to enable.

The first thing you’ll need to do is connect to your Raspberry Pi via SSH. The default username is ‘pi’ and the password is ‘raspberry’.

Once logged in, you will need to run the wget command provided by 3CX.

This will download the SBC installer from 3CX and begin the installation wizard.

After reading and agreeing to the terms and conditions, you will then be prompted to type in your 3CX server address. This is usually “https://companyname.3cx.codek”

You’ll then be asked for the SBC authentication key. This is where you need to log into your 3CX server as administrator to set up.

When you’re in the administrator portal, go to the SIP trunks tab (on the left) and click “add SBC”. You’ll need to give it a name to identify the site by and to help with any potential troubleshooting issues later on. You can then click OK. Note that the password on this screen will not be needed.

On the next screen, you will then see the authentication key ID. These are the characters that your SBC requires to connect back to the 3CX server. Copy and paste this key into your SSH window and hit OK.

Your Raspberry Pi will now run through the finalisation steps to complete the installation. It will then display the message “3CX SBC is up and running”

To check the connection is ok, you can then go back into your 3CX admin console and see the green light indicating the connection is now complete.
