This policy explains how Reformed IT Limited uses cookies and similar technologies on this website. It sits alongside our privacy notice, which explains how we handle personal information more generally.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to give site owners information about how their site is used. We also use similar technologies such as tracking scripts and local storage, which we refer to collectively as "cookies" in this policy.
How we use cookies
We group the cookies we use into the following categories:
- Strictly necessary. Required for the site and its core features to work — including our consent banner and our live chat support. These are always on; the site can't function properly without them.
- Analytics & performance. Help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it — for example, which pages are visited and which organisations are interested in our services.
- Advertising & marketing. Used to measure and improve our marketing and, where applicable, to tailor the messages you see. These only load with your consent.
The services we use
Some cookies are set by third parties that provide functionality on our behalf. The main ones are:
- Our consent banner remembers your cookie choices in a cookie called ri_consent for 12 months, so we don't ask again on every page (strictly necessary).
- HaloPSA live chat — powers the support chat widget so you can talk to our team (strictly necessary).
- Snitcher identifies the organisation a visitor is from (not the individual), using their IP address, so we can understand which businesses are interested in our services and follow up with them. It runs on every visit. Until you accept analytics cookies it keeps only a temporary identifier that is cleared when you close the tab, and it only sets cookies to recognise return visits once you accept (analytics).
- Google Analytics (loaded through Google Tag Manager) — measures how visitors find and use the site so we can improve it. Only loads once you accept analytics cookies (analytics).
- Microsoft Clarity — records session replays and heatmaps, with text you type masked, so we can see how pages are used and fix problems. Only loads once you accept analytics cookies (analytics).
- LinkedIn Insight Tag — measures how our LinkedIn advertising performs and lets us show follow-up ads to people who have visited the site. Only loads once you accept advertising cookies (advertising & marketing).
- Google Ads (loaded through Google Tag Manager) measures which of our Google ads lead to visits and enquiries, and lets us show our ads to people who have visited the site. Only loads once you accept advertising cookies (advertising & marketing).
- Microsoft Advertising (loaded through Google Tag Manager) measures which of our ads on Bing and other Microsoft services lead to visits and enquiries. Only loads once you accept advertising cookies (advertising & marketing).
- OpenAI Ads pixel (loaded through Google Tag Manager) measures which of our ads in ChatGPT lead to visits and enquiries. Only loads once you accept advertising cookies (advertising & marketing).
- Fraud Blocker protects us against advertising fraud. It detects bots and automated or repeated clicks on our Google ads, so that fake traffic can be blocked and we don't pay for it. It runs on every visit, including before you make a cookie choice, because bots never accept cookies and it could not detect them otherwise (fraud prevention).
For data collected through these advertising tags, we and each platform are joint controllers under the platform's joint controller terms.
We may add further analytics and marketing services over time. When we do, they will load only in line with your consent settings, and we will update this policy to reflect them.
Managing your preferences
When you first visit the site, our consent banner lets you accept or reject non-essential cookies. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page.
If you withdraw consent, we delete the cookies those services set on our site. When you make a choice we keep a record of it (a random ID, what you chose and when, with no IP address or other details) so we can show that you gave consent. We keep these records for two years.
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or remove cookies, though doing so may stop parts of this and other websites from working as intended. Guidance for the main browsers is available from their own help pages.
