Microsoft Teams is a great app which has many amazing features. In this article, we show you some Teams tips you may not already know about. These tricks can be used when it comes to sending messages or sharing documents.
Microsoft Teams Formatting
When writing a new message in Teams, you can press the little “format” button, below the message bar. This will bring up extra formatting options, where you can make your message stand out or structure it more appropriately.
This feature allows you to change the size, colour and style of the text in your message along with paragraph formatting, embedding code and even creating and inserting tables.
Marking Important Messages
If you’re sending an important/urgent message to someone, you can press the exclamation mark button. This marks the message as high importance, making it stand out to the recipients or even notifying them.
Announcement Messages
Similar to marking messages as important, when creating a message to a team, you can click the drop down on the “new conversation” button.
Turning your message into an announcement will give you the ability to type a headline, making your message stand out to the team and clearly labelling what it’s about.
Multiple Channel Posts
Let’s say you’re writing a message to a particular team or channel, however, you want to post the same messages in multiple.
After pressing the format options button, at the top of the text box, there is a button that says “post in multiple channels”. This will allow you to select other channels where you can send the message to.
Mentioning Users, Channels and Teams
Here’s something you might already be doing within Teams, but if not, a feature you should definitely use. In Microsoft Teams you can mention certain people, channels or the whole team, when sending messages. This alerts anyone who’s been mentioned, getting their attention more easily. It can also be easier when you want to get your message across to everyone in a team instead of just a certain person or vice versa.
Pinning Important Documents
You might already know that you can share documents through Teams, making them accessible and editable to others. If there’s a document that needs to be seen by many regularly, you can pin it to the top of a channel.
To do this, click the “+” next to the top tabs in a channel. This should show a menu with many options on what type of file you want to pin. After this, find the document within explorer and it will be added as a new tab at the top of your channel for others to easily view.
