Beware of this Father’s Day Free Heineken Beer Scam
There have been reports of a new WhatsApp scam, imitating Heineken and offering free beer for father’s day. Here’s everything you need to know to make sure you don’t get caught out.
Free Heineken Beer Scam
People have been receiving social media messages, most commonly on WhatsApp, offering them the opportunity to win free beer from Heineken.
These messages are reported to include a link to a competition, in which people can enter in the hopes of winning, however, it’s a fraudulent attempt by scammers. People who click the link will fall victim to this phishing attack and most likely have their personal information stolen.
The message also includes an image of Heineken beer, in hopes of making the competition and sender look more legit.
Heineken themselves have posted on their social media accounts, warning people about this scam and urging them to ignore the messages.
What Should I do if I Receive this Scam?
Users who receive a message similar to this are warned not to click the link. The best thing to do is to report the message and delete it. You can also let others know about this scam so they don’t also get caught out.
Whenever you recieve messages claiming to be from big companies, like Heineken, check their official social media pages or website. The majority of the time, big companies like this will post updates and competitions on their pages, so if you’re unsure whether something is legit, they are the best places to check.
