7 Hidden Browser Tricks You Need to Know
Closing and opening tabs in your browser is already a simple task, but what if we told you there’s hidden tricks to make these tasks easier and quicker? Here are 7 hidden browser tricks you need to know.
1. Close unused tabs instantly
If you hover over a tab you no longer need and press the middle mouse button, the tab will instantly close. This makes it much easier than trying to click the ‘X’ on each tab, especially when you have multiple open.
2. Close all tabs to the right
Another way to close multiple tabs in a quick succession is to right click on a tab and press the option that says, ‘close tabs to the right.’ This will do exactly what it says on the tin and close all tabs to the right of the one you right clicked on.
3. Open a new tab
Pressing CTRL + T will open a new tab in your current browser window. If you get into the routine of using this shortcut, it can be quicker than trying to press the plus icon every time.
4. Open a tab in a new window
As with the previous shortcut, pressing CTRL + N will open a new tab, but this time in a new window rather than in your current browser window. This is useful if don’t want your new tab getting mixed up with other open tabs.
5. Re-open accidentally close tab
One of our favourite browser tricks – ideal if you accidentally close a tab you need. Hold Ctrl, Shift + T to reopen the last tab you closed.
6. Cycle through tabs without a mouse
Did you know you can cycle through your open tabs without using your mouse? CTRL + Shift + TAB will cycle left through your tabs and CTRL + TAB will cycle right. A handy trick if you’re already using your keyboard on a page and want to switch tabs quickly.
7. Reverse image search
Did you know you can find the origin of an image within your browser? Google’s tool is great for this. Head over to Google images and click the camera icon in the search bar. This will allow you to upload an image from your device or paste a link. Google will find the origin of this image along with the image dimensions and visually similar images.
