Which Phone System? 3CX or Gamma Horizon?

Looking to upgrade your phone systems but not sure which is best for your business? In this blog post, we look at the features included with both 3CX and Gamma Horizon and compare them both, letting you then decide which one you prefer.

3CX – Overview

3CX is a cloud hosted phone system which enables calls and extensions to be made via traditional PSTN phone lines and VoIP services. In essence replacing your traditional phone system without the typical lengthy contract terms of other phone providers. 3CX is a feature rich solution with everything built into the standard system.

Gamma Horizon – Overview

Horizon Cloud PBX is Gamma’s complete business phone system. Hosted communications system that replaces your traditional phone system. Gamma Horizon is one of the biggest suppliers of phone systems in the UK with a basic feature set out of the box and feature bolt-ons for an additional cost. Traditionally these systems will have long contract terms up to 5 years.

As you can see, 3CX comes with a lot more benefits and features as standard, making it a much more cost effective solution than Horizon. Let’s take a look through some of these features.

Simple and Easy to use Interface

Looking at the interfaces for 3CX and Horizon, 3CX looks a lot more user friendly, simple and easy to use. Have a look at this comparison between the 2 management dashboards. Our team have configured both 3CX and Horizon systems and in our opinion, 3CX is a much more intuitive design, whereas Horizon can be quite frustrating and clunky to make the simplest of changes.

 

Multiple Queue Types

As a standard, 3CX has 9 different call queue types whereas, if you’re looking for call queues in Horizon, you’ll have to pay for an extra. Here are the different call queues you can select in 3CX as standard.

Hunt Random start – Randomly chooses an agent to forward the call to.

Prioritised Hunt – Distributes calls according to a specified order. If the agent at the front of the list is busy, it goes to the second one in list and so on.

Longest waiting time – Directs call to agent who has been waiting the longest.

Least talk time – Directs call to agent who has been on the phone the least.

Fewest answered – Fowards call to the agent with the least calls answered.

Hunt by threes prioritised – Sends calls simultaneously to the top 3 prioritised agents.

Hunt by 3 random – Sends calls simultaneously to 3 random agents.

Round Robin – Sequentially cycles through agents logged into the queue.

Accessible from Anywhere

With 3CX, you can access the app or call anyone from anywhere! Whether you’re in the office using the web app or a handheld phone or out and about and using your mobile, you can handle calls and check other agents’ status. The best thing about this is that it comes with 3CX as a standard.

However, with Horizon, it’s an extra paid for option to be able to use Horizon either on mobile or desktop, which can cost up to £5 extra per user per month.

Call recordings

With 3CX, you have the option to enable call recordings for any inbound or outbound calls. This is a great feature to have if you want to go back and listen to any past calls either made by yourself or another user within your business.

Once again, however, this feature is not included as a standard with Horizon and will be another paid extra, costing a minimum of £1.75 per user per month, which can quickly add up.

CRM Integrations

It’s possible for you to integrate 3CX with your CRM. This makes it much easier for you to call any of your customers or clients directly from the search box within the 3CX phone system. On the left you can see all the apps that 3CX integrates with.

 

 

Call Reportings

Built into 3CX is a call reporting feature, which tracks information about stats from your 3CX system. However, we also recommend an extra, more advanced call reporting software for 3CX called Jed-ware. Jed-ware converts 3CX data into great and simple looking charts and graphs.
